We have completed our new paper fabric bag, “Nagi,” which is packed with many unique features. The name “Nagi” is derived from the Japanese word “和ぎ (nagi),” meaning “to relax” or “to be in a stable state.” True to its name, the bag has a solid and square shape that exudes stability, yet its rounded form brings a sense of relaxation when viewed. We named it “Nagi” in the hope that it will be cherished by many.

This is a bag filled with many meticulous details.

こだわり① : レザー

Until now, our paper fabric bags have utilized high-quality leathers sourced from France and Italy. However, for our latest design, Nagi, we have opted for “Kawazoe Leather” from Kawazoe Shouten (Headquarters: Nagoya).

Established in 1930, Kawazoe Shouten specializes in various leather goods, including bags, apparel, and furniture, due to its location in Nagoya. Leveraging their expertise in leather craftsmanship tailored to the Japanese climate and utilizing state-of-the-art facilities and chemicals, Kawazoe Shouten is dedicated to producing “Japanese leather” that embodies their commitment to quality and craftsmanship, a feat that can only be achieved by them.

こだわり② : 紙布

To complement the design of Nagi, we had the paper fabric woven specifically for it. Among them, the “Yabane” pattern, in particular, is rare and requires highly skilled techniques for weaving. Selecting the color and thickness of the paper yarn, the woven paper fabric tailored for the bag complements Nagi perfectly.

こだわり③ : パーツ

The logo part attached to the handle went through numerous trial iterations before finally achieving completion. Similarly, the zipper was the most time-consuming component this time around. We went through multiple iterations of sample production, constantly changing the gold color of the zipper until we were satisfied. From the smallest parts to others, we carefully selected each one and created a paper fabric bag packed with a multitude of details and meticulousness.
